Gateway Centre

Since our last update a few months ago, we have been busy decorating the ROC Hub in Launceston. The 200sqm room needed a fresh lick of paint and new flooring, suitable for the daily requirements of a community project. Community Payback and Premier Foods have kindly assisted with decorating the room and the builders have created a fantastic café area and appropriate toilet facilities. Each one of these smaller projects within the ROC Hub has allowed us to celebrate the completion of every job knowing that it is going to have a benefit to the local community.

Over the past nine months the church has been on a journey that has seen us become even more community focussed, having positive conversations with agencies has seen us at times, slightly stretched, to meet the various demands that a project of this size has on a relatively small church. Fortunately, our vision is greater and it is keeping us focused on the task ahead.

We have now setup a ROC steering team which includes the local police and a town councillor who are providing input into how we will be running the project once it is opened.   Not only is this group providing great feedback but is also helping to open the door in speaking to other groups.

At the moment we are praying for funding to help furnish the ROC Hub. We currently have an empty shell and to meet the different needs that we have identified, we will need to raise about £5,000 to furnish out the room. We have created a crowd funding campaign and if you would like to support us then you can visit our SpaceHive page.
