The ROC n Rolls Cafe and community centre in Holts, Oldham came about following a ROC Conversation in 2017.
At the community event people spoke about the lack of community meeting spaces. ROC received funding to renovate and open a local shop as a Cafe and employ a coordinator.
The community chose the name ROC n Rolls. Within a year the Cafe was too small and ROC received funding of £100k from the proceeds of crime to extend the Cafe and create a community meeting space. Following the restrictions due to Covid and the extension being built the Cafe had to close for a few months but has now been relaunched.
Jade runs the Cafe which serves affordable meals and Kaylee with a team of volunteers runs the community hub space. The community space runs activities such as bingo, walking, kids club, tots Tuesday, crafts, christian fellowship, friendship evenings, table top sales and afternoon teas.
